Week 3 : Motivation, Creativity, and ESL Learning
This infographic summarizes Chapter 6 of How People Learn II , “Motivation to Learn.” The chapter explains that students are more motivated when they feel a sense of belonging, have opportunities for choice and agency, and see learning as connected to their goals and future identity (National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, 2018). These ideas are important for ESL curriculum design because language learners need a safe and supportive environment where they feel comfortable taking risks.
